Change In The Inspection Authority For Imported Animal-Origin Food Safety, Effective From 01/09/2026

On August 20, 2026, the Sub-Department of Livestock Production and Animal Health of Region VI issued Official Letter No. 406/CNTYV6-TH guiding the transfer of authority to process food safety inspection registration dossiers for imported animal-origin products used as food.

Below are the key points to note:

1. Effective date:

From September 1, 2026, the new regulations under Circular No. 22/2026/TT-BNNPT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will apply.

2. Change in inspection authority:

The state inspection agency for food safety of imported animal-origin products, under both normal inspection and strict inspection methods, will be assigned or designated by the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

3. Dossier-receiving agencies in the 5 provinces/cities of Region VI:

  • Ho Chi Minh City: Department of Food Safety
  • Tay Ninh Province: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Dong Nai Province: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Dong Thap Province: Sub-Department of Livestock Production and Animal Health
  • Lam Dong Province: Sub-Department of Livestock Production and Animal Health

4. Support for resolving difficulties

During implementation, if businesses encounter difficulties when registering food safety inspection dossiers, they may contact directly the border-gate animal quarantine stations under Region VI Sub-Department for coordinated support.
